Regional Water Authority of South Khorasan was established on May, 10th,2006 as a joint-stock company -a legal entity- with financial independence. The Object of activities of the company according to the article of the association are:

1- Planning and management of water resources of the province

2- Implementing the programs that are notified to the company by the Ministry of Energy according to the law of equitable distribution of water and the relevant regulations.

3- Execution of exploitation operations related to the development of agricultural water resources, industry, and urban water supply to the vicinity of cities in the company's area of operation.

For this purpose, it implements water resources development projects, including the construction of reservoir and diversion dams, use of groundwater resources, desalination of saline water along the establishment of irrigation and drainage networks.
